Activities & Adventures in Tabuk

Al Disah Valley

The best way to describe al Disah would be as a paradise in the middle of the desert mountains. The valley itself is covered with lush greenery and various species of palm trees and native plants, and it is defined by the subtle water stream that runs through it and the colossal mountain walls that directly surround it. Al Disah is a perfect spot for enjoying peaceful picnics and taking in the tranquil scenery. The valley can be explored both in foot and by car.

Hisma Desert

If you want to feel like you’re on Mars, Hisma Desert is the place to go. What’s more is that the otherworldly area’s rocks are full of engravings and drawings from ancient times. All of this can be witnessed and experienced in different ways; the Hisma Desert is suitable for picnics, camping, hiking, bonfires, driving dune buggies/quad bikes, and more.

Jabal Assafinah (Ship Mountain)

This ship-like rock formation is awash with historical carvings and writings, some of which were engraved by members of ancient societies that inhabited the area thousands of years ago. The writings are relatively newer. They go back to the early Islamic era and before dots were added to Arabic letters.

Jabal al Lawz

Jabal al Lawz, which translates to “Mountain of the Almonds” in Arabic, has an elevation of more than 8,500 feet above sea level and is the highest mountain in its area. It is also one of a small number of areas in Saudi Arabia that witness snowfall in the winter, which makes it an ideal spot for camping and hiking.

What to Explore in Tabuk City

Tabuk Station (Hejaz Railway)

As one of the main stops of the historic Hejaz Railway, the Tabuk Station was frequented by hundreds of thousands of pilgrims and travelers each year. Today, it serves as a museum that highlights how the railroad, which revolutionized transportation in the region during the early 1900s, was operated.

Tabuk Fortress & Mud House

This 5-centuries-old castle has stood the test of time. In fact, according to some accounts, the castle was originally constructed around the year 3500 BC. The Mud House is a museum that is rich with historical and cultural artifacts, including clothing that visitors may try on. Female visitors can get henna tattoos; temporary body art that locals embrace for festive occasions.
